May 12, 2008 Terminator 4

With the news that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has been renewed by FOX for a second season, fans can rest easy and think about other things. Like Terminator 4. The fourth installment in the Terminator franchise, which stars Christian Bale as a grown John Connor, has begun filming (just today, in fact) and the news keeps pouring in. Earlier this week, Variety reported that Terminator 4 (or, as it is properly being called “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins”) will be the first in the series to be rated PG-13. In other news, rapper and sometimes actor Common has been cast as a rebel freedom fighter, and there are rumors that Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men) has been tapped to play the “terminator” role in Terminator Salvation.

May 09, 2008 2ND SEASON OF THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES

This Season’s No. 1 New Scripted Series Returns with All New Episodes

Brian Austin Green Joins the Cast as a Series Regular

FOX has picked up 13 episodes of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES (T:SCC) for the 2008-2009 season.

The explosive, season-ending cliffhanger left CAMERON (Summer Glau) rocked by a car bomb and SARAH CONNOR (Lena Headey) close to locating an important Skynet component. Viewers were left with unanswered questions regarding DEREK’s (Brian Austin Green) true intentions and JOHN’s (Thomas Dekker) fate as the savior of mankind. These questions and more will be answered in season two of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES.

The show currently ranks as the No. 1 new scripted series this season among Adults 18-49. The action packed series represents an exciting reinvention of the “Terminator” film franchise, in which the strong and intrepid Sarah discovers that protecting her son and stopping the rise of the machines is more difficult than she had ever imagined.

Produced by C2 Pictures in association with Warner Bros. Television, TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES is executive produced by Josh Friedman and John Wirth. James Middleton serves as consulting producer, while Toni Graphia serves as co-executive producer and Natalie Chaidez serves as a consulting producer for the series.

May 07, 2008 FOX Announces Summer Schedule, ‘Terminator’ Opposite ‘Prison Break’

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is coming back for its second season in the Fall. The series was thought to be in danger of cancellation, but FOX recently made the announcement that the series will be returning for its second season – unfortunately, not a whole lot of people watched the first season. If you were one of those people, who foolishly shunned Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles the first time around, do not fret. You don’t have to wait for the DVD or illegally download a large torrent file; FOX is going to re-air the first season at the end of the summer. In addition, FOX announced much of its summer schedule, and it gives a hint at what the FOX Fall schedule may look like.

Starting Monday, August 11, FOX will begin airing reruns of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at 8pm, followed by reruns of Prison Break at 9. Since baseball typically pushes FOX’s season premieres into October, I think it’s safe to assume that Terminator will have enough time to air all nine first season episodes. FOX has yet to announce their Fall schedule (upfronts are coming in a couple of weeks), but this summer schedule is also very telling.

Although nothing is set in stone, this summer schedule will likely carry over to the Fall season. Terminator inhabited the Monday time slot during its first season run, and it looks like FOX is putting it back on the same night. FOX will work its quirky schedule throughout the entire 2008-2009 season: Prison Break will probably run in uninterrupted spurts in the Monday slot, while Terminator will run like a normal show, with reruns coming intermittently. Then, come January, Terminator will run opposite 24 once Prison Break goes on hiatus. This is all good news for Terminator, whose ratings should increase opposite two high-profile shows.

Apr 28, 2008 DVD News

Josh Friedman, the creator of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, has done interviews lately which appear in various places around the internet. In at least two of them, with MovieWeb and with SyFy Portal, Friedman says that the 1st Season of the show, with all 9 episodes, will be out on DVD this August.

Friedman also mentions that the set ought to be loaded with extras that cast and crew have participated in. Apparently there will be Commentary Tracks on “Pilot”, “Dungeons & Dragons” (the “Future War” episode that introduced Brian Austin Green as “Derek Reese”), and the explosive season finale “What He Beheld”. There are also “mini-documentaries” (featurettes, we suspect he means) and more. Among the cast and crew he mentioned as participating in the extras are himself, Director David Nutter (The X-Files, Roswell, Smallville), Executive Producer James Middleton (upcoming Terminator 4 film), various writers, and show leads Lena Headey (300), Thomas Dekker (Heroes), Summer Glau (Firefly) and Brian Austin Green (Beverly Hills, 90210).

Apr 22, 2008 Fox gives ‘Terminator’ Second Season

She’ll be back — and sooner than you think.

Not only has Fox has picked up “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” for a second round, the show is returning in the fall.

“Connor” premiered in January as a midseason drama, but Fox is shifting the show to its fall lineup for next season. The network on Monday handed a 13-episode order to the sci-fi drama, an extension of the “Terminator” feature franchise. The series revolves around Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) and her son, John (Thomas Dekker), as they battle enemies from the future with the help of a goodhearted terminator, Cameron (Summer Glau).

“Althought a screwy year, even with the soft competition audiences rejected many other shows,” said Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly. “Advertisers loved it and Josh Friedman did an incredible job taking a beloved franchise and finding the episodic voice of the show.”

Reilly said that “Connor” will likely get a new time period next fall rather than stay at Mondays at 9 p.m. NBC puts the similarly sci-fi tinged “Heroes” in slot, which was on hiatus due to the writers strike when “Connor” aired this season.

The series could also get an early back-nine order, Reilly said. Next May, Fox will release the fourth “Terminator” film which could make for some ideal corporate synegy should the TV series survive the fall. Reilly said he’s already spoken to the film’s direct McG about cross-promotional possibilities.

“We’re a living commercial for the franchise,” Reilly said. “You may see do some co-marketing efforts. If the show’s working that’s going to be a no-brainer for us in May.”

“Connor,” which launched in January, is the highest-rated new scripted series this season among adults 18-49 with an average of a 4.4 rating/10 share. The Warner Bros. TV-produced series drew an average of 10.5 million total viewers.

“Connor” had been considered a shoo-in for a renewal, along with Fox’s freshman comedy “Back to You,” which has yet to be picked up.
